Dr. Jeffrey Reynoso Departs as Executive Director of the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California (LCHC)
After 5+ years in the role, Dr. Jeffrey Reynoso is departing as Executive Director of LCHC having successfully led the organization through a period of transformational change and growth.
SACRAMENTO – Dr. Jeffrey Reynoso is departing as Executive Director of LCHC after a tenure of 5+ years. He has led the organization through a period of transformational change and growth in elevating Latinx health equity in California. During his time at LCHC, Dr. Reynoso has worked in partnership with a committed Board, dynamic staff, and trusted organizational partners to advance a number of Latinx health issues through policy advocacy at the CA State Legislature and State Government agencies, guiding the creation of community engagement and leadership development programs statewide, and supporting the launch of key public education and strategic communications campaigns that have reached and impacted the lives of million of Latinos in California. Dr. Reynoso leaves the organization with a strong foundation–during this period LCHC has more than doubled the number of full-time staff and is currently at its most prolific fundraising period in history totaling over $10 million in new fundraising and counting.
“It has been a true honor serving as Executive Director for 5+ years during such unprecedented times for our State and nation–from threats to healthcare and social benefits, a once-in-a-century pandemic, and climate change catastrophes. Change is hard, but necessary; and I leave LCHC with my heart full knowing the mission of the organization rests in the people–Board, staff, funders, partners–advocating for the Latinx health equity movement. We, shoulder-to-shoulder with the LCHC network, collectively made a difference in advancing critical conversations with decision makers to allocate the just budget resources, policies, and programs commensurate with our Latina/o/x community’s representation in California. As I embark on my next career role, I will continue to be a supporter of LCHC’s mission and I look forward to the new heights that the future leadership will take the organization. ¡Adelante!” Stated Dr. Jeffrey Reynoso
The LCHC Board is grateful to Dr. Reynoso for his dedication and tenacity in serving as the Executive Director. The LCHC Board commented that over the years, Dr. Reynoso expanded LCHC’s footprint throughout California, developed strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and uplifted new leaders within the organization.
Dr. Efrain Talamantes, LCHC Board Chair stated “The LCHC Board wants to extend gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Reynoso for his dedication and tenacity serving as our Executive Director. His ability to form trusted relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders has elevated the voice and influence of Latinx health in critical health policy conversations. Jeff has also thoughtfully focused on organizational development having uplifted key staff within the organization to leadership positions. The Board is thrilled to name Dr. Seciah Aquino as Acting Executive Director. LCHC’s Board and staff remain committed to our funders and partners to maintain LCHC on the pathway of sustained success.”
With Jeff leaving LCHC in a strong position–including a strong team, multi-year funding, and new strategic plan—the LCHC Board will begin the process of identifying a strong candidate to fill the role of Executive Director that will keep LCHC on a path of sustained success. The LCHC Board has established a Transition Committee composed of key Board and staff members. In the following months, the Transition Committee plans to name a new permanent Executive Director after a thorough search.
“It has been a pleasure working alongside Dr. Reynoso over the past 2+ years and, together, being an integral part of the growth LCHC has seen. I am excited to step into this role, as acting Executive Director, during a time when LCHC will be celebrating our 30th year anniversary and announcing an innovative 5-year strategic plan. We are not pressing the breaks – we are turning a page on this new chapter with strength and power. I’m elated to continue the work, along with our powerful, diverse, women-led team and imagine new ways we can build our communities collective power to push forward next year’s LCHC Policy Agenda.” Stated Dr. Seciah Aquino
Dr. Reynoso’s departure was publicly announced at the conclusion of the 2022 Virtual Latinx Health Policy Summit.
