LCHC’s Annual Latine and Indigenous Health Policy Summit
Our annual Latine and Indigenous Health Policy Summit is the only conference in California explicitly focusing on exploring policy solutions to address the complex health disparities that Latine Californians face. The Summit serves as an opportunity to celebrate our history and to bring together hundreds of statewide and local public health leaders, government, and philanthropy partners and activates our network consisting of 20,000+ Latinx health stakeholders. We convene dynamic conversations with leaders from across California who are eager to advance systemic and community-centered solutions to bring about a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable future for ALL.
Announcing the 2025 Health Policy Summit:
California Presente: Corazón de Resistencia
The Latino Coalition for a Healthy California (LCHC) invites you to attend LCHC’s 2025 Health Policy Summit. Our summit’s theme this year, California Presente: Corazón de Resistencia (California Present: Heart of Resistance), centers hope, power, and our responsibility to defend all Californians.
Our communities are actively facing anti-Latine rhetoric & policies from the federal administration. The policies being enacted aim to destroy our existing health and safety net infrastructure while disproportionately impacting our already systemically disenfranchised communities. The summit will bring us together for a day of interactive and thoughtful conversations on the different ways we can collectively stand against these threats.
The summit will take place at The California Endowment in Sacramento on October 16th, 2025 from 9:30 am-4:00 pm.
Please join us after the summit for our reception at juju kitchen & cocktails from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Welcome and Introduction
- Dr. Seciah Aquino, Executive Director, Latino Coalition for a Healthy California
- Keynote speaker: Kim Johnson, Secretary, California Health and Human Services Agency
Latines aren’t asking for handouts but simply equity from an economy that our communities contribute to on a daily basis. The Latino GDP in California surpassed $1 trillion in 2023 helping propel the California economy to be the fourth largest economy in the world. Latines dominate the workforce at 40% and lead in essential sectors like hospitality and agriculture. This presentation will dive into why investing in Latine health is a powerful tool to improve and sustain California’s economy.
2025 has been a challenging year for Latine and Indigenous communities. Under the first year of the Trump administration’s second term, our communities faced rampant immigration enforcement raids, devastating cuts to health and safety net benefits, and on the heels of the COVID pandemic, a new pandemic— a fear pandemic. How has this year impacted the health and mental health of our communities? How were organizations, education, local government systems, and service providers forced to step up or reassess their actions and services? In this panel, we will also discuss the acute and long-term needs and opportunities that have emerged this year, as well as solutions and actions that will carry us through the next three years together, working to fight for the health and safety of our communities.

2025 brought several significant changes to California’s most extensive healthcare system, Medi-Cal. Join us as we discuss Medi-Cal challenges, including state budget constraints, coverage for undocumented individuals, and impacts from federal government policies. Our panelists will examine how they have had to shift and respond to policy and budget changes, and how government and service providers are preparing for the next phase of California’s Medi-Cal program.
As the Latine population in California grows, our public health and healthcare workforce must transform to be representative of our beautiful diversity. California’s healthcare workforce is made up of of Community Health Workers, Promotores, physicians, administrative and health policy professionals who strengthen the field, and the efficacy and efficiency of efforts through their powerful lived experience. And yet, the workforce does not accurately represent us, for example while we make up 40% of the population, only 6% of CA physicians are Latine. Join us as we explore efforts to strengthen existing health workforce opportunities, uplift new campaign efforts, and understand the best practices and lessons learned from those currently leading the healthcare workforce.

Latine and Indigenous Health Policy Summit Over the Years
2024 Health Policy Summit:
California Unida for Health Equity
The theme, California Unida for Health Equity, underscores the critical need for the Latine community and all Californians to unite in creating meaningful policy change. Join us as we discuss our Medi-Cal system, it’s expansion as well as the recent unwinding. We will discuss the economic importance of investing in Latine health and it’s broader impacts on our state. All of this in the shadow of a consequential election, where health is on the ballot.

2023 Summit: ‘Regeneracion’
Regeneración, or regeneration, is the natural process of renewal and restoration after a disturbance or damaging event. In 2023, we were joined by hundreds of statewide and local public health leaders, community members, government, and philanthropy partners, in exploring policy solutions that will heal and restore our communities after a devastating global pandemic.
The Summit was followed by an in-person Double Quinceañera reception that brought Summit attendees together for an evening of networking and celebration. During this first-of-its-kind event for us, guests enjoyed food, live music, and surprise guests Las Cafeteras for an intimate concert.

2022 Virtual Policy Summit – ‘Fortaleza en Comunidad’
The 2022 virtual Latinx Health Policy Summit ‘Fortaleza en Comunidad’ served as an opportunity to celebrate our history and to bring together over 500 statewide and local public health leaders, government, and philanthropy partners. We held a two-day virtual convening of dynamic keynotes and panel conversations focused on intersectional health equity solutions for our Latinx community.
The 2022 Summit featured conversations ranging from Latina reproductive rights, civic engagement, advancing healthcare access, and economic justice.
2021 Virtual Health Policy Summit – ‘Nuestro Futuro, Nuestro Poder’
2021 devastated the health and economic position of underserved Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) and immigrant communities. In California, no community has borne the brunt of this pandemic more than Latinx communities. There was no single Latinx household that wasn’t impacted by the undue toll on human life and socioeconomic impacts of the COVID-19. The 2021 Summit sparked a dialogue with committed leaders, advocates, legislators, policymakers, providers, and community health champions to help shape a united Latinx Health Policy Agenda that leads towards a just COVID-19 recovery.
