The disproportionate rates of infection we’re seeing are merely the symptoms of a much larger underlying issue.

We actually shouldn’t be surprised that communities of color who have been systematically disenfranchised are now experiencing higher rates of disease.

Immigration is definitely a driver in creating a fear and a mistrust of systems, and that includes our health care system.

It’s hard to determine whether a death is due to COVID-19 if the victim never sought medical care, said Jeffrey Reynoso, executive director of the nonprofit Latino Coalition for a Healthy California.
