The Latino Caucus, along with immigrant rights organizations and advocates, gathered at the State Capitol to oppose Governor Gavin Newsom’s latest proposal. It seeks to revoke Medi-Cal eligibility for low-income adults without legal status starting in 2026. We do not want a budget that discriminates against undocumented immigrants.
“In 2022, Latinos had $935 billion in GDP. We contribute, and if our health isn’t taken care of, we won’t be able to continue working and contributing to the economy. So cutting Medi-Cal and expansions for our community means we’re directly impacting the state’s economy.”
